The largest city in Kentucky, Louisville is not only famous for the Kentucky Derby but the Home of Louisville Slugger Baseball Bats. Located on the Ohio River across from Indiana, people often refer to the region as "Kentuckiana". In the late 1960's and early 70's, Louisville, like other cities saw a shift in population to suburban areas out of the downtown corridor. Early this century the revitalization of downtown began with "Fourth Street Live" and several new high rise condo developments.
The Highlands, Clifton and Butchertown areas offer historic living near modern ammenities including great restaurants and trendy shops.
Louisville boats a strong creative arts community with Actors Theatre, Center for the Arts, several venues for great local music and galleries, including Kentucky Crafted. The Frasier History Muesum, Ali Center and The Speed Art Museum round out the cultural experience Louisville offers.
